Seymour UMC would like to continue to provide a growing and meaningful environment for the worship of our church and community. With that in mind the Staff-Parish Committee will be accepting resumes for the position of Contemporary Worship Leader. Any person interested in the position is invited to review the current job description listed below. This is a part-time (20 hours per week) position that helps direct and meet the needs of our 11:00AM worship service and other services as needed. Resumes may be sent to the church:

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP LEADER
SEYMOUR UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
 
I.     GENERAL
This person will serve as the Worship Leader of the Sunday Morning Contemporary Service and monthly Wednesday evening services, working with the Senior Pastor, the Associate Pastor, and the Worship Committee; this person will be responsible for the planning and implementation of music related to these services. This person should be an individual of recognized Christian character and leadership abilities. This person will be expected to develop a knowledge of the United Methodist Church and integrate their work into the total mission of the church. Flexibility is considered a major asset.
 
II.     The Contemporary Worship Leader will report to the Associate Pastor on a weekly basis with overall reporting to the Senior Pastor and the Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC).
 
III.     It is preferred this person have a music degree; worship leading experience is required. This person should have exceptional skills on either guitar or keyboard; other instrumental / musical skill sets would be considered an important asset.
 
IV.     This is to be considered non-exempt, part-time employment. Part-time for this position is defined as a 20 hour work week.
 
V.     Compensation is commensurate with education and experience as determined by the SPRC.
 
VI.     The Contemporary Worship Leader will be expected to attend Worship Committee meetings and other called worship planning meetings as part of their job responsibility. Attendance at other meetings may be necessary from time to time.
 
VII.      PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP LEADER
 
A.  Oversee music selection and performance of the worship bands.
B.  Direct and lead the performance of these groups on Sundays.
C.  Provide input and assist persons responsible for input of data into the multimedia presentation software and bulletin.
D.  Maintain the music library as applicable.
E.   Lead weekly rehearsals of worship teams and bands.
F.   Attend meetings as deemed appropriate for position.
G.  Have CD music playing prior to services, plan special music / soloists on a monthly basis, and work with the Pastoral staff on planning thematically appropriate songs for worship
H.   Shall perform those other duties as prescribed by the Senior Pastor and SPRC to ensure continuation and development of the ministry.
